The Directors of SDS and its management team are committed to ensuring a safe, supportive, protective and healthy working environment for our employees, customers, contractors and any others who may be affected by the conduct of our activities. The minimum environmental standards are those specified in the relevant legislation, codes of practice and the policies and standards adopted by SDS. In consultation with all stakeholders, we will continue to manage the environmental aspects of our business to align ourselves with the legal obligations placed on us by the Environmental Act 1995.
To meet this commitment, it is our policy to:
- We are committed to meeting all relevant legislative, regulatory and other requirements to which we are subject;
- We aim continually to purchase and use environmentally compliant products where possible;
- We will integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision making and activities;
- We will avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and products, seek substitutions when feasible, and take all reasonable steps to protect human health and the environment when such materials must be used, stored and disposed of;
- We will promote the efficient use of energy and other resources whilst striving to eliminate waste and emissions;
- We will be an environmentally responsible neighbour in the community where we operate. We will minimise risk to human health and the environment and correct incidents or conditions that endanger health, safety, or the environment accordingly;
- We will ensure that environmental issues are considered during any acquisition or divestiture process;
- We will communicate to all persons working for or on behalf of the Company our Environmental Policy and seek to engage them in our commitment to continual improvement;
It is the responsibility of all our employees, customers, contractors and visitors on company premises to ensure that our Environmental Policy is adhered to at all times.
This Policy is reviewed for continuing suitability during each review of the Quality and Health & Safety Management System or earlier if required.
This Policy is supported by further policies and procedures within our Quality and Health & Safety Management System.
